It may have seemed very quiet over here for the last few months, but other than looking after my baby son Jai, I’ve also been developing new products with some dedicated British craftsmen. One of whom is John Garner. John has been working with me to make a unique handcrafted rocking sheep (inspired by a product I created for The Handknitted Nursery Book). These are some pictures he sent to me of his work in progress – I’m so excited to be knitting a cover for her.
After an exciting year I am currently taking a little time out to spend some time with my latest, and most rewarding project, Jai Oberon Ishwar Kapil. Orders placed now will be for delivery in November 2013.
I’m very excited to announce that my first book will be published by Cico books in March 2013. Now available to pre-order, the book shows step by step instructions for knitting projects for the home (including a few of my favourite pieces from my collection).
Natuzzi has asked us to help them celebrate The Queen’s Jubilee by asking us to give their King and Queen chairs a knitted makeover. They will be on display in The Tottenham Court Road store until the 26th August when they will be auctioned for The Fashion and Textile’s Children’s Trust.
We are having a wonderful time in our little shop in Seven Dials, London. So much so that we are already talking about when we will be back – soon I hope! We just need a little time to go back to the studio and remake more of our knitted chairs to fill to the rafters. Here are a few sneaky pic of the shop! Open 25th Feb – 5th March. 38 Monmouth Street, London WC2H 9EP.
One this I particularly love is being given a challenge. And when Josh at Wolf & Badger asked if I could knit some freaky mannequins I jumped at the chance! The pair are in the windows of the Ledbury Road store from the 15th September 2011.
